After nearly two years of hibernation, the old keyboard is waking up.
Oh, we hadn’t been completely away. This site, 110forChrist.com, has been open for over seven years and you should have been able to access almost anything that has appeared on this website since 2018. We have also been very active in providing photo galleries on our 110forChrist Facebook page. So we never really shut down but have not been very active since in writing, posting just a few stories and no KHSAA high school stores since February, 2024.
Let’s just say life happened, including what we thought was a health scare in 2025. It turns out that looks like it was a false alarm and we got a clean bill of health last month. Still, I opted not to push things until we knew. Looking back, we probably could have handled that differently, but the past can’t be changed.
But over a six- or seven-month period, I did a lot of soul-searching and praying. In fact, there was a time when I wondered if this concept of positive sports was really reaching people.
Then it happened!
My wife and I made a last-minute decision to visit Anderson County High School as the Lady Bearcat basketball team was hosting Walton-Verona on Jan. 12. Before the game, I ran into WV coach Rianna Gayheart in the corridor between the gym and the dressing rooms. She asked how I was doing and said something that caught me by surprise and has stuck with me the three months since.
“I have missed seeing your articles. I enjoy them.”
When I returned to my seat, I told my wife that I believed a coach, through a kind comment, had been used by God to answer a prayer I had been uttering for those six months.

So, our intention is to return in a big, but more organized way than we have been operating in the past. I have talked with some high school coaches who have been very supportive of our mission and work and have some good story ideas lined up.
Our feature stories have been 110forChrist.com’s backbone since launching in 2017. Those stories will remain the focus of our mission as we believe that allowing people to tell their own stories is a powerful way to spread the good news and joy of the gospel.
However, we plan on adding some commentary. Ever since this site was launched, we have largely avoided commentary – we have ventured down that road a handful of times, though. It was simply because we wanted to tell positive life stories designed to inspire.
However, the sports world has changed drastically over the last seven years. Concepts such as Name, Image and Likeness money and unlimited transfers at the major college level were unheard of. And it’s sobering to know that policies based on what we see at the major college level are now in place at the high school level in some states.
Unruly fans, players and coaches have contributed to a shortage of officials. Alleged academic irregularities are rampant at all levels of scholastic sports. And a healthy view of sports and sportsmanship at all levels can and should be addressed from time to time.
At this time, our frequency of posting feature stories and commentary is still under review. Our goal is to have that worked out by the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.
We are planning on one brand new, old-school feature that all we have talked with really like. It’s the simple Game of the Week concept. If we are going to be going out working on profiles, chances are we are going to be at a game So why not share a story on the game too? While we know we can’t provide the coverage of a local news source, we can provide a different perspective. That’s the goal, starting with the 2026 football season.

Unlike a newspaper, we simply don’t have the resources or manpower to cover every sport, so our focus will be on football, basketball and baseball/softball. We hope you understand.
So we hope you will be looking for us around the Eighth Region! That’s our focus but we have dear friends in some other regions, so we will occasionally go out of the region for high school or college sports.
We are also looking at some other improvements but are not ready to disclose them at this time. Just check back soon for some really cool stories.
All we want to do is share the good news of Jesus Christ through sports. We hope you will join us for that ride.
